Hill-start Assist Control (HAC )
On steep inclines, Hill-start Assist Control helps prevent the vehicle from rolling back when starting from a stop. The system uses sensors to monitor the vehicle’s degree of incline. When the system determines that the vehicle is at a stop and on an incline, it will maintain brake pressure when the driver takes his/her foot off the brake pedal, preventing the vehicle from rollingback.
Operation:
• The system releases the brakes when the driver presses the accelerator or after about 2 seconds• HAC does not operate when the transmission is in Park or Neutral
• HAC will activate when ESC is turned off, but it will not activate when ESC is experiencing a malfunction.
HAC eliminates worries about rolling back into the vehicle behind you when starting from a stop on a steep incline. It also improves control on hills or boat ramps while towing.
